Firsts

so many firsts i could talk about but i supose the big one that comes to mind is our first house! We (my boyfriend Nam and I) have rented for years and never thought we'd be able to afford our own place (sydney property prices are outrageous!) But after working my butt off to earn lots of commission at work, and scrimping and saving for over a year, i saved the $10,000 we needed for a deposit. We only looked around for about 6 weeks before we found the house we knew was perfect for us. 3 bedrooms, big kitchen and separate dining, 3 way bathroom, single garage and an inground pool. We talked them down from $340,000 to $320,000 - not too bad for our first attempt at haggling! We moved in last November, but sometimes i still cant believe we actually own this house and nobody can make us move! (well unless we dont pay the mortgage!lol) We can put as many holes in the wall as we want (i can even knock one down if i really want to!), we can paint, renovate.......do anything we want. We can really make it ours. (not that we can afford to do much! lol but still, i love it and love the fact that we probably wont move again for at least 10 years!)

Congrats on your first home! Wow, those prices are steep. I remember my first home being a double-wide with 3 acres of land that we bought for $74,000. I can't imagine paying over $300,000 for a house...whew! But it is a nice feeling to know that the house is yours...like a feeling of freedom. Good luck!

Congratulations on your home - it looks wonderful. We've had ours exactly five years, one week and one day - it's a great feeling :o)

Beautiful house and a lot more house for the price than they are here. An 1100 sf house goes for over $300,000. Without the pool. :)
